In a huge, half empty hall dominated by persons who have nothing to do with Amiga demos and only play games? I don't think so! For a scene party to establish and symbolising a good name for itself takes atleast two maybe even three years. That's why the Symposium & Mekka organisation have done a great job in realising a scene party which brings back the scenish flavour, the old skool atmosphere in a long weekend during Easter. The orginizers have connections in the Amiga scene which already makes sure of some hot releases, and with their good name built up by the last three editions we are in for a real hangover.. One of the best demo competitions in quantity and quality since years! Let Me Entertain You.. During the 4 days the party was going on, we could witness several sceners at the IRC who could bring the latest news of the party. The number of persons visiting came close to expectations. "There are about a 1000 visitors" Acryd, a nice scener tells me while the Amiga demo competition is running. There are a total of 15 demo entries. "Amongst others Haujobb,Venture,Scoopex,Abyss,Lego,Artwork competed in the demo competition." Acryd comments, and continues "And ofcourse Antibyte had a 40kb intro ready in the Intro competition" The party network sometimes worked, sometimes it didn't, but there were few people online at a time, compared to The gathering 1998 which was going on at the same time. There network was available for alot of people who visited. Another End Of Another Era! A scene party usually gives sceners a chance to discuss certain matters of new members or starting a new group. Famous musician Virgill had agreed to join Haujobb at the party, where he came home from 1 day early because of a major hangover. As he commented at the IRC. But the most catching news of the weekend, and I am sure of the year is that ARTWORK has been officially announced DEAD! "Artwork just lived too long" Azure comments when asking him. "Our Artwork MegaDemo IV 2 released at here at the Symposium is the last Artwork demo ever" he continues. Quickly I asked some other questions. "Will you join another group?" I hastly ask. "I think so" Azure says. But only one minute after Azure corrects this sentence "I will not join another group" Artwork dead, another era has ended. A last question popped up in my head. What about Generation, will this magazine die aswell after issue 26? Afterall Artwork could have been the motivation for the people behind it to continue the magazine. Azure: "I don't think so, afterall Generation never was a ATW-Demo if you know what I mean.." Epiloque And so another hot weekend ended, one that symbolises the first half of 1998. With two major party's in one weekend. Mellowchips of TRSI won The Gathering 1998 this year after two years of TBL dominance. Yet TBL won the 64kb intro competition at The GAthering 1998. As for MS'98 results they aren't known at the time of writing this report. But Acryd comments: "My guess is 1. Haujobb 2. Scoopex 3. Abyss" So let's see if this forecast comes true.. @BEGIN_FILE_ID.DIZ ______ ___________ _____ _____ _ _ \_ ¼| ___ _ ¼\ _ ¼| __//// | || ¼\| | \| | ¼\ | || \_ . \_ _ \_ -dA! .-| || / | / | /-------. |.|___|| .: /___| .: /___| .: /:kOLOR!.| |::::::|___/::::|___/::::|___/:::::::::| `--------------------------------------' (*) Mekka / symposium Report by Magic of nah kolor @END_FILE_ID.DIZ
