MS'98 - The Competitions written by Magic/Nah-kolor (Seenpoint #8) The success of a scene party is based on the positive selective perception the visitors experience during the days the party is held. Facility, meeting friends and so on. Also the quality and quantity of the different competitions is important. Especially for the sceners who didn't visit the party, the results are very important, as it's a rating for them how successful the party has been. Four Channels Forever! Virgill, Curt Cool, Muffler, Marc, Nork are some of the more famous names whose entries got selected by the MS organisation. Due to the by now oh so popular modern communication techniques, e.g. Finnish Muffler could compete without being present. He got a 2nd place. However the victory went to the unknown (?) Manic & Shane of Crux. While German allstar Virgill 'just' ended on a 11th spot. 01 "Discoking" by Maniac+Shane/Crux 02 "Bandura" by Muffler/Haujobb 03 "Into the Iris" by Notman/IRIS 04 "Solar Systems" by Skyrunner/Apocalypse 05 "Manhattan" by Marc/Haujobb^Sector7 06 "Pillzone" by Ghandy+Nork/Gods 07 "U-POP" by Curt Cool/Depth 08 "Chocolate City" by Chosen/RNO 09 "70s interlude" by E-schall-I/riot 10 *Untitled* by Acid God 11 *Untitled* by Virgill 12 "Poly Sessions" by Genetic/GM VISION Graphical Inteference... Some rather known names in this years Graphics contest. Good old Peachy decided to paint another masterpiece and ended 3rd. Rumours say he competed with three pictures under different names. While Bridgeclaw just made it to a 42nd place. Some unknown painter called Sigma made a 14th place, while being a TRSI member. Hopefully a talent to look out on. Same counts for a scener called Hellfire who is a member of the group Haujobb. In the end Cyclone won with 293 points, well earned, though the name of the picture could be more original. 01 "Haensel & Gretel im Paradies des blutigen Todes" by Cyclone/Abyss 02 "Bloeder Vochel!" by Nazgul 03 "Fantasy" by Peachy/Haujobb 04 "Oppa geht ficken" by Acryl/Scoopex 05 "8 bits are enough" by T.G.I./Brainfart audiovisuals 06 "Native" by JCS/Haujobb^Sector7^Abyss 07 "Beast" by Kirk/Fuel 08 "Kiss" by Dreamer/Haujobb 09 "A Profyle" by Gizmo/Icebird 10 "Apocalypse" by Rio/Elven11^SpinningKids 11 "Flash Girl" by Hellfire/Haujobb 13 "Rainbow" by Zaac/Ramses 14 "Dream" by Sigma/TRSI 42 "T-shirt.big.iff" by Bridgeclaw+Ghandy/Gods Demos make the scene go around! The demo competition was of high quality. Haujobb won but Karpow of Scoopex comments: "Originally this demo competed at The Party 1997, yet the organizers there played it one hour after the demo competition, and it never got spread." Also the 4th place demo by Venture is a nice one. "But the music could have been better" Acryd, a scener on the IRC comments. Second place winner Abyss had a small problem with the musical aspect of the demo. In the end not Pink of Abyss did the music, but Finnish module monster Muffler. "I did three modules for this demo" he comments. Another known name in the list is the Artwork Megademo IV part 2. The very last ATW demo ever. "It's a Fiver, Tron, Azure demo" Azure comments. "And with music by Sire/Lego" he adds. Jamie of Skarla didn't have time to finish his demo for the competition. Also Hedgehog of Nah-kolor was few days off to completion of his demo. And Damion of Artwork commented that there was a rumour that Touchstone of Essence would release his last Amiga demo at MS'98. All in all, releases we could expect later on in 1998. As for now the Amiga demo results for MS'98 are: 01 "Aphrodisiae" by Haujobb 02 "Extra Life" by Abyss 03 "Scraps of Beings" by Mankind 04 "Face off" by Venture 05 "Puzzle" (?) by Puzzle 06 "La Fureur" by Crux 07 "Cosmonautic Jazz" by Lego 08 "Megademo IV 2" by Artwork 09 "Lops Kakki - Reprocess 4" by Da Jormas! 10 "e- (electrons at work)" by TEK 11 "Big-Rat" by Fickoooeeen 12 "Karneval!" by Birdhouse Projects 13 "Grasmaaierzak" by The Knakworst Crew Tiny Intro's; Much Fun! Long before MS'98 took place, Antibyte of Scoopex announced a new intro by him, and so he did. Part 2 (of the trilogy?) called SuperAutoDrome and he won again. Followed by Haujobb and Abyss. Old German coder Grace can't stop his Amiga hobby, and coded a 5th place intro. 01 "Superautodrome 2" by Scoopex 02 "Shibuya" by Haujobb 03 "Tribute - The REAL OldSk00l" by Abyss 04 "Family Business" by Abyss 05 "Can't Stop" by Nuance 06 "Aquale" by PhaseTruce 07 "Art Nouveau" by Darkage 08 "Tetsuo 2" by Depth 09 "Desire" by Depth 10 "Ront Kolli" by Da Jormas! 11 "Trapatonytro" by The Silent Smorebrods 12 "ADrift" by Cromatics
